2008 Newsletter - EDITION 7

What's up?

We are back in South Africa and suffered from jetlag for at least four days this time, mostly due to the heavy rains which did not allow us any time outdoors in natural light. Well, the rain finally stopped and I was out into the sun. (One of the reasons this newsletter is delayed!)

Today, the rain is back, and I am forced indoors so I can, at last, get some work done.

Next newsletter: Prostate problems including prostate cancer and the role diet plays. I will also be dealing with some myths in this area.

Still working on skin and skincare, please be patient, this may take awhile.

This week I am laying down some clear guidelines on health products as I have been inundated with queries about Gogi berries, Acai berries, and the latest fad, alkaline water!? Then some important information on DHEA and why it could be dangerous to take as a supplement and where you can get it for free!.

Mark & I are devastated at the price increases here in South Africa. The cost of fuel has doubled and the prices in the supermarkets have increased by 100% on some items. This is due to the fuel increases, the exchange rate and general overall increases as well as world wide shortages of maize/corn and rice. Many of our products are imported to maintain our high standards.

Unfortunately this has impacted on our range of natural food and other products, so to help you we are making some of our products available in bulk at wholesale prices. You can also purchase our delicious organic dried pineapple and all our other dried fruit and nuts in bulk as well as our brown rice and polenta. These are only bulk packs and will not be available from any other outlets. Phone our warehouse directly in South Africa on 021 856 2500 between 8am – 3pm and ask Jason or Anthony or Nadine for the bulk wholesale price list. We also sell in bulk to people who are packaging our products for sale at their local markets. Yes, we do hope to have these products in the USA by early next year and are working on it.

We are also making the special available that we gave to our customers in the USA on our organic seasoning range, so if you buy a box of 6 salts you only pay for 5. Please know that we are pulling our hair out over this and doing everything we can to maintain our high standards and bring you the best quality products at the best prices.

What's in?

Dear Mary-Ann

I would like to thank you so much for e-mailing me this 100-day program. I really enjoyed it. It is very encouraging to get a daily email, encouraging you to eat and be healthy.

I read your book, "the Natural Way" a long time ago - I think in the nineties, and have had your Recipe Book 2 for about just as long. I have at times been able to eat very healthily. However, I got remarried, and, although God has really blessed me so much in many ways in this marriage, my husband (and stepson) REALLY are NOT interested in "healthy eating". They WANT their meat, fried foods, cakes, bisquits, choclates, fudge, fizzy drinks .............. the list goes on. So, these foods are always in the house, and with me having a sweet tooth, it is hard to consistently stick to healthy habits. On weekends my husband normally cooks, so out goes some more healthy eating habits. The above are the main reasons why I enlisted in your 100 day program.

Having said all that, I would like to tell you what I did gleen from the program:

  • ·         I am now walking (or doing other exercise) for 15 minutes on most days.
  • ·         I drink more water (was never a water drinker). Water has actually become my main drink. It has even replaced my previous drink of cold herb tea & fruit juice!
  • ·         I take the 3 Herbal Fibreblend capsules every morning early. (have used HFB for years)
  • ·         I have a glass of freshly made carrot juice for beakfast (cannot afford Barley Life yet, although I am completely convinced of its goodness). Otherwise I have fruit salad sprinkled with crushed linseed and a generous dash of Grape seed Oil. I found one with a non-obtrusive taste and find it delicious on all my salads.
  • ·         I try and stick to a salad or few slices of bread with salad ingredients on for lunch. LOTS of avo - 1 or two per day, if available.
  • ·         I start supper with a salad. Then I often share my falmily's (unhealthy) supper, with huge helpings of veg.

I have seen the following improvements in my health:

  • ·         a huge improvement in my skin - people have commented on it.
  • ·         soreness, stiffness in my right hip joint - almost gone.
  • ·         bruises on my calf that went hard and stayed for months - now almost gone! Possibly from improved blood circulation.

Thank you again SO MUCH for the program. I am determined to stay on it. Having improved my diet during the week substantially, I am now going to target my weekend-diet. As soon as I'm able to, I would like to also start Barley Life again, as well as AIM Frame Essentials and AIM ProBone (My mom had Arthritis and osteoporosis and I would like to avoid both.)

I do find the occasional fast very helpful in dealing with a not-so-healthy diet.

I also really appreciate the Scriptures that you weave into the program; we need God's help in everything we do!

Thank you and God bless you!!

What's inside?

 Proverbs 14
15The simpleton believes every word he hears, but the prudent man looks and considers well where he is going.

16A wise man suspects danger and cautiously avoids evil, but the fool bears himself insolently and is [presumptuously] confident.
