Cancer

 

Just been re-reading some of Dr Colin Campbell’s book, The China study and doing a course with him, and then I received 2 emails, one a report on a 10 year old girl with cancer, the other below (names have been changed to avoid offending anyone, which I seem to do with regularity – see apology at the end of my newsletter)

Thought I might send you an email for a change.  I have all your books and recite everything out your books, but don't live 100%  on the natural way and have now joined your 100 day course, maybe one day I will get round to doing the nutritional course. 
I have attended two talks you held in Pietermaritzburg, one of which was in Cathy Richards Garage,  I thought I might just tell you that she passed away on

 

Monday night with cancer of the colon.  Now that makes me very despondent as she was our local therapeutic reflexologist and aromotherapist amongst other therapies and lived what I thought was a healthy lifestyle.  On top of that fasting and colon cleansing.  My sister in law passed away about 2 years ago also colon cancer, but I'm not sure about their diet.  The other day I.S.(big health "Guru") died of a rare cancer I believe and now M.F. also recently passed away with cancer  (another big Health Guru)? 

Are our lives so bad or what is the real cause of this??  Possible negative thoughts or anger, I'm really battling with this lately maybe we should all just be living it up.  The people drinking or smoking (sometimes even of that other stuff) look shriveled and old but seem to just go on and on. It just seems like a lot of healthy people are being effected and that concerns me. 

 

Sorry I do know you do not have all the answers, possible some healthy people are not really healthy behind doors.  I know for a fact it does work, but I just feel down about all this.  I myself have studies Reflexology and Aromatherapy am registered with Allied Health and have not practiced it much as our other business took priority.  Now with the recession the other business is actually non-existent and I want to take up my health which I am passionate about and

 

would like to be more equipped to answer all my own questions.  I am also an Aim member.

The issue of cancer is close to my heart as my father died of liver and pancreatic cancer more than 20 years ago and I have dealt with several people over the years that have cancer.

Time and again I have seen people with so called incurable cancer, respond to a healthy diet and go into complete remission and eventually be pronounced “cured” 5 years later.

I have basically found 3 things affect our immune systems and when this is not working as it should, the immune system cannot control cancer cell growth and cancer results.

 

1.     Diet
2.     Spiritual Life
3.     Attitude

 

I will touch on spiritual and attitude and go into more detail with diet.
We cannot know how people actually live in their homes, what stress they deal with, what unforgiveness they harbour, BUT, we can control the way we eat and live ourselves, our relationship with others and God, and the choices we make. We will all continue to wonder how not all smokers get cancer and why, seemingly healthy people do. We can from today, start to make changes and choices that will protect us from degenerative disease.

Cancer is a state of cellular growth, which occurs when normal cells become abnormal and continue to grow abnormally without apparent control, and in the process destroying healthy tissue and organs. Cancer kills more people in Cancer is a disease of so-called civilised nations, and is practically unknown among primitive people eating natural, unprocessed foods. Dr Colin Campbell in his short course I have completed says..”the latest figures as high as 1 in 2 males and

 

1 in 3 females will get cancer!” - more than any other disease, except heart disease, although it appears to be nearing the same levels.

Ross Horne in his book, Health Revolution states that cancer “does not occur in properly nourished and vigorously healthy humans.

 

Dr. E H Tipper in The Cradle of the World and Cancer, A Disease of Civilisation (1927), said that where there is no constipation - there is no cancer. He further says, “Cancer has been suspected of being a disease of civilisation ... I am convinced that this is true.

Interestingly enough, today, the most common form of cancer is cancer of the bowel, including colon and rectal cancer. All the latest research indicates that a diet high in fat and protein and low in natural fresh foods, is the main cause of cancer. The most comprehensive nutritional research ever done to date, The China Study, shows clearly that when animal protein intake exceeds 5% of daily energy intake, cancer is triggered. Surprisingly, even when exposed to highly carcinogenic substances like aflotoxins, cancer does not occur unless the protein intake exceeds that 5% level. The most common form of cancer in Westernised countries is cancer of the bowel, including both colon and rectal cancers.

 

The third national cancer survey done by the USA National Cancer Institute showed that cancer of all types is lower among people who follow a plant-based (vegetarian) diet, and even lower among those that do not consume dairy products.
A study done into Loma Linda University in the USA, involving 100 000 Seventh Day Adventists, showed that they had half the cancer rate of the national average, their blood pressure and cholesterol levels were also considerably lower (Their general diet discourages the consumption of animal fat, stimulants, and processed food). Recently they formed part of the Blue Zone study shown on Oprah which listed the worlds longest living communities. Loma Linda was the area in westernised countries with the healthiest and longest living community.

 

Some General Factors Contributing to Cancer

 

Constipation

The average transit time for faecal matter in Westernised countries is three days, while in rural communities it is 24 hours – where cancer is virtually unknown.

High Protein Diet

Eating animal protein results in the formation of ammonia, which encourages the formation of cancer (carcinogenic).
Cooked and heated fats are also carcinogenic. When animal products are cooked, fats in the protein foods are heated to very high temperatures.
Animal protein contains no fibre and so contributes majorly to constipation. A high protein diet (more that 600g of animal protein a week – just over 1 pound or more than 5% of energy intake) causes thyroid problems and this can result in severe constipation. This high intake of protein is THE factor that appears to TRIGGER cancer cell growth.

 

So even on a wholefood diet, with no preservatives, colours or flavours and refined foods, if your animal protein, including organic cheese and dairy intake is higher than 5% of your energy intake, cancer will be triggered.

In the research conducted by Colin Campbell, cancer cell growth stopped completely when they took the protein intake to below 5% even while the highly carcinogenic aflatoxins were still in the diet. When they increased the animal protein to above 5% cancer cell growth started again, clearly showing what appears to not only be,

 

THE CAUSE AND THE CURE OF CANCER

Amazingly enough, billions ($) is spent world-wide continuing to search for a cure for cancer when it has been found.
Obviously there is no money to be made in the real cure.

Processed and Refined Sugars and Starches
Regular intakes of these foods have now been shown to result in a higher level of stomach cancer.

Processed Foods and Additives
Processed meats, such as a polony (baloney), hotdog and other sausages and bacon, contain nitrites and nitrates, now known to cause cancer. Many other food additives and preservatives such as sodium benzoate found in all margarine are known to be carcinogenic. Dr Colin Campbell (professor Emeritus from Cornell University who headed The China study, has shown that additives are usually triggered by animal protein over 5% and insufficient plant food in the diet.

 

Salt
A powerful irritant and strong inhibitor of enzymes, it has now been observed to increase the rate of cancer growth.

Insufficent antioxidants
You do not need to be taking any supplements, even fruit and vegetables grown in so-called ‘depleted’ soils contain enough of these nutrients – you just need to make sure you’re eating enough.

Remember that the country that takes the most supplements, the USA, has the highest rates of cancer, heart disease and diabetes, so clearly supplements do not help. Following the five Natural Way steps will ensure that you are obtaining all the antioxidnats, vitamins and minerals needed to protect you against cancer. We now know that we should be eating at least 5-11 portions of fresh fruit and vegetables daily. Antioxidants are highest in fresh plant food, and they detroy free radicals from processed, refined, fried and high protein diets.

Remember that there are dozens, if not hundreds of unknown phytonutrients that have still to be discovered, also that fresh fuit and vegetables are always alkaline forming in the body and it is this alaklininity that also contributes to protecing the body against cancer cell growth.

 

Heated Fats
Fats heated above 160°C have been shown to be highly carcinogenic
Natural Plants fats actually help strengthen the immune system and should be eaten regularly.

 

Hormone Replacement Therapy & contraceptive pill
A huge study done on a million women, completed in the late 1990’s showed that women on HRT stood a 50% greater chance of suffering from breast cancer. The contraceptive pill also appears to contribute to this

 

Exposure to Animal & Environmental hormones
It is not sure whether it is just animal protein or our exposure to animal hormones in the animal protein. But with each mouthful of animal protein we will be exposed to the animals own hormones and in non organic production of animal flesh we will be exposed to over 11 different hormones used to promote growth.

 

Smoking

Inhaled cigarette smoke contains many powerful carcinogens such as acrolein, carbon monoxide, nicotine, ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, nitrous oxide, formaldehyde, methanol, arsenic, to name a few .

 

An acid forming diet

A diet that is predominantly acid forming puts tremendous strain on the Immune system. The ideal pH of the body is 7,35 – 7,45, when the pH drops just marginally below this cancer cells are known to multiply rapidly. A typical Western diet is anything from 70-100% acid forming, when it should be no more than 20-25% acid forming to maintain this pH balance to prevent this positive environment for cancer. Just following the Natural Way 5 steps will result in a diet that is no more than 25% acid forming.

The best way to avoid cancer is by following basic 5 Steps to Natural Health and removing all processed foods from the diet. A diet low in fat and protein and high in fruit and vegetables has been proved time and time again, to be the best way to avoid cancer. If a person has cancer, I have found that a 100% raw diet, including nuts and seeds, to be the best programme for recovery. It is a high alkaline forming diet (90 – 100%) and is also high in natural antioxidants such as Vitamin C, Beta Carotene etc the high alkalinity help prevent the cancer cells multiplying and the high anti oxidant levels help the body destroy the cancer cells without harming the healthy cells. I have personally dealt with numerous people over the years who have recovered completely (first remission for 5 years and now classed as cured) from so called incurable forms of cancer such as liver cancer. The focus should be on as much organically-grown fruit and vegetables as possible and a glass of freshly-extracted vegetable juice containing organic barley juice (the best is Barleylife) if possible (The most alkaline food available and also contains powerful anti-oxidants such as Superoxide dismutase), organic carrot juice and organic beetroot juice. Aim’s Barleylife, Just Carrots and Redibeets would be ideal for this.

Organic Flax oil is also anti-carcinogenic and anti-tumourgenic and taken daily would be of much benefit. Aim’s Aimega blend is made with organic flax oil.
Taking other vitamin and mineral supplements will simply strain the digestive tract and kidneys adding to the existing burden of cancer.

 

Fasting
I personally see no sound reason to fast a person who has cancer, as the body is so run down that it cannot cope with the fast. I have seen many people deteriorate rapidly when fasting for cancer. Although for other diseases such as heart disease fasting can be very beneficial, I recommend 1-3 days and no more for those with cancer. It is best though to first build up your body with natural whole foods and a high fresh fruit and vegatbles diiet with no animal protein and only when health has been restored can longer fasts be taken.

 

Mental attitude
The mental attitude of a person with any disease and how it affects the health and recovery rate of that person is well known and described as psycho-neuro- immunology or PNI. How you feel about your disease for example directly affects the function of the thymus gland, which produces the fighter T4 cells, which are so important infighting cancer cells, viruses and bacteria. It is vital that a person not only wants to be well, but believes that they will get well. This needs to be done through education by finding out how your body works and what it is capable of and reading about and speaking to other people who have recovered from cancer and by reviewing the spiritual side of your life. Research now indicates that people who believe in God live longer and are healthier. A place to start that most people are comfortable with is the book of Proverbs, there is one Proverb for every day of the month. There are a variety of so-called cures available world wide, but the common denominator of all the programs that work is that a high raw fruit and vegetable diet is encouraged together with the right mental approach and spiritual balance. Allopathic Treatment Consists of Three Main Methods:


•     Surgery, usually for tumours
•     Radiation therapy
•     Drug therapy - Chemotherapy
Sometimes 1 or 2 or all 3 are employed together. All three treatments can have severe side effects. Radiation and Chemotherapy work on the principle of destroying cancer cells, but in the process also destroy good, healthy cells.  Possible side effects are cellular death, unusual cellular forms, cells that are incapable of dividing, nausea, vomiting, hair loss, skin rash, diarrhoea, conjunctivitis, even bleeding cystitis, leucopoenia or reduction in the white blood cell count, anaemia, pulmonary fibrosis, renal failure, chills, fever, hyper pigmentation, anorexia, pharyngitis, etc.

To quote from The Merck Manual a hand book most doctors use;
Radiotherapy

“The effects of ionising radiation are random: cellular death, unusual aberrant cellular forms, functional cells incapable of division or functional cells that are unaltered
Chemotherapy

“compounds similar to mustard gas, attach electron rich regions of molecules…this disruption of cellular metabolism leads to cellular death…. Toxicities include nausea, vomiting, alopecia, hemorrhagic cystitis, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia, pulmonary fibrosis and an increased risk of acute no lymphatic leukemia ” also “skin rash, diarrhea, conjunctivitis and cerebella ataxia”

Some people choose to do the raw diet and use the allopathic treatments above. I have seen some that recover doing this, but often the cancer returns whereas the success rate on the raw diet appears to be higher. I have seen dozens in complete remession and then totally cured with the right diet. I have also seen cancer return within a year or two when people revert to their old diet.

In the Kitchen
Grilled cauliflower and corn
1 fresh cauliflower broken into small pieces
2 cups of fresh or frozen corn

Optional
1-2 cups sliced mushrooms
1 cup frozen peas
1-2  red peppers cut into pieces

Place on a baking sheet, sprinkle with our red Organic seasoning salt
place under the grill in your oven and broil or grill until cauliflower is lighly browned
Serve with a drizzle of olive oil or with avocado or hummus and or chilli pesto, with a fresh salad or glass of carrot juice for a totally alkaline and delicious meal!

 

Apology
It appears I offended some people in the article on school food, which was not my intention. If I came across harshly it was to stress the importance of a healthy diet, especially for children.
I apologise to the parents and the school (mentioned in the letter written to me) for any stress, discomfort or perceived damage that may have occured as a result of the article. It was not my intention to draw attention to any school, rather, I had hoped to inspire the parents of all schools to fight for healthier food and snacks for their children and to take this issue very seriously.
