The Natural Way Network Newsletter

This month’s newsletter is a collection of letters from you all with some wonderful feedback. I pray that you are all as inspired, encouraged and informed as I was… Mary-Ann

Just about 2 months ago Mary-Ann came to KC.  I signed up for her seminar with the goal of finally learning the practicalities of fasting.  Instead the morning session introduced me to Perfect Health.  My soul devoured every concept.  The fasting breakout in the afternoon was equally beneficial, but now I knew what step one was—eating properly.  After purchasing and reading the book Perfect Health, I began implementing everything right away.  The first eight days of fruits, nuts and salads I felt terrible, but not really any worse than I usually did.  On the morning of the 9th day I woke up with energy.  I don’t remember ever feeling that way before.  Within three weeks I had lost 9lbs of which I did not expect—just an added bonus.

Since the day I started having cycles, my pms has been moderate to severe including suffering from perimenopause symptoms for seven years during my twenties.  In short, I spent about half my life in bed.  Recently, I have made it through a complete cycle without any pms and plenty of energy to live life. My childhood sweetheart and husband never expected that--until now.

At the end of my first three weeks, I tried a small brownie and 1 scoop of ice cream.  Immediately, I began not feeling well.  The next day I was in bed all day.  In fact, when I woke the next morning I was so full of insecurity and fear just like I had been in the past.  No brownie or ice cream is worth that misery and missing out on life!  That evening, not fully recovered from the sugar effects, my husband asked, “Where’s my Autumn from this last month?”  I told him that she was recovering from refined sugar.

I’m thirty-five and for the first time in my life my oldest daughter doesn’t have to parent her two younger siblings because “mama doesn’t feel good today”.  Perfect Health is aptly named.  I’ve even learned through the process that my heavenly Father loves me so much that He made food that satisfies and energizes me.  All praise to Him who reigns supreme and for His obedient servants that share His truths!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. It happens to be my 70th birthday. I find this hard to believe.

I have tried to the best of my knowledge to practice healthy eating habits over the years and been greatly influenced by Mary-Ann's ideas in this regard since my wife and I read 'The Natural Way about 20 years ago.

It has worked for me, especially since at age 60 I was found to have a mechanically defective mitral heart valve. Since then I have consulted a cardiologist every 2 years and the condition of my heart has remained extremely healthy. In fact when the leaky heart valve was first detected by the GP in Ballito, I consulted our previous GP in Pietermaritzburg who, when I asked him to check my heart said :"Your heart is ticking over beautifully. There are a lot of people who would love to have your heart”.

So despite the leak you will see from the attached cardiologists report, my heart is compact, contracts well and I am asymptomatic - no swollen heart and shortness of breath.

I run 4km every third day to keep fit, am generally very mobile and at least once a year my wife and I do a 5 day hike (eg Otter trail) with friends, with backpacks sometimes in mountainous terrain.

It is one thing for younger people to say they eat a healthy diet and are well. For me to say that at 70 really means something, and more so in view of my defective heart valve. It proves which eating habits really work in the long term and which don't.

I thank my Lord Jesus Christ for this. I pray to him for good health and His answer has been to show me it is within my control by determining what I put in my mouth. He has led me to read what Mary-Ann and others have to say, apply some common sense and learn from my own experiences over the years.

Keep up the good work

Hylton

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for the birthday wishes.
Yes, I was 71 on 1/7 - yesterday – now according to the Good Book, I am living on borrowed time !

Both Derek (my husband) and I are still very conscious of eating healthily. I am still able to work part-time at
UCT – something I enjoy very much and I am still able to tackle the uphill climb to my office without getting
puffed. I also ALWAYS use the stairs – hate lifts!

We do not own a car and walk to most places.
I give all the credit to plenty of exercise and a healthy eating plan.

Saw the two of you on Top Billing the other night – such a lovely surprise !  And thank you to Mark for the tip
of the cucumber “submarines” – an excellent, nutritious idea – and SO easy to prepare -

Once again, thank you all so much –

Joan

Dear Mark

THIS  IS SAD.    93% won't  forward

A small request.. Just a one line  prayer

Dear God, I pray  for the cure of cancer. Amen

93%  WON'T FORWARD THIS, WILL YOU?   ;PLEASE?

Neville

Dearest Neville,

I am one of the 93% who will not forward this email. But my reason is different from everyone else’s…

The cure for cancer has already been found! Read “The China Study” by Dr Colin Campbell of Cornell University ( http://www.benbellabooks.com//the_china_study.php)

What folk have to do is stop...

Stop wasting their prayer time begging God for a cure when no cure is needed..
Stop ramming every conceivable drug they can lay their hands on into their bodies..
Stop running to the doctor for ‘sniffles and sneezes’ when they can sort it out by diet and exercise..
Stop eating foods that are full of preservatives and chemicals.. Instead eat more of God’s foods.. Fruit and vegetables!
Stop drinking the most poisonous and toxic chemical that man can consume... ALCOHOL!
Stop smoking (This is a real mystery.. People still smoke in the light of indisputable evidence that smoking causes Cancer!! How would they like the evidence for the other cancers to be presented? On a silver platter? Written in the sky?) People do what they want to do until the pain of not doing is greater than the pain of doing.. And even then.. Some will not change and die!

I have been a Christian to 30 years now and I have been in Healing Teams, Prayer lines and the health industry... and the BIGGEST PROBLEM is that folk want God to do for them what they are too lazy or too undisciplined to do for themselves. Read Romans 12.. The whole chapter is great but the 1st 2 verses are critical to this discussion and also get hold of and read the book mention above... You’ll find the cure in there...

Trust you are keeping well

Regards

Mark

Dear Mary-Ann,

The drug Fosamax has been available in South Africa since 1996. I know it has helped thousands of patients suffering from osteoporosis, but unfortunately the drug also has severe side effects as experienced in my case.

I was on Fosamax and later Fosavance for twelve years. My gynaecologist prescribed the drug to improve my bone density in order to prevent osteoporosis.
Over the past twelve years my bone density indeed improved.

On the 28th of February last year I tripped in the parking garage at work and fractured my left femur. The orthopaedic surgeon at Milpark Hospital treated it as an unfortunate accident and a pin was inserted in the bone. I was on sick leave for three months and it took about four more months to be totally mobile again.

In December 2008 I read the article “Fosamax – not all it’s cracked up to be” in Sally-Ann Creed’s newsletter. It stated that Fosamax was linked to unusual femur fractures. I did some research on the internet and was appalled about the fact that Fosamax could indeed cause femur fractures. At that stage I suffered from severe skeletal, muscle and joint pains, another side effect of the drug, so I immediately stopped taking it.

It was unfortunately too late for me, because on the 7th March this year I stepped on an uneven path and my right femur just snapped. I didn’t even fall and supported myself holding on to a wall. Another operation and a complete bone scan followed. The scan revealed hot spots on various bones in my body. A bone biopsy was done, which thankfully revealed no malignancy. I was then referred to a specialist physician, who said that I was a text book case of the side effects of Fosamax. The drug changed my bone structure. He also said that I shouldn’t have been on Fosamax for twelve years and that he would only treat me once the fractured bone has healed completely. I was again on sick leave for three months

The cost implications are tremendous: Around R70 000 for the medication over 12 years. The medical costs just for the right femur are nearing R90 000 and are still ongoing. Not to mention the six months not being able to work.

I feel very strongly that the Pharmaceutical Company should warn doctors to monitor patients on Fosamax and not to prescribe it for such a long time.
They should also put a warning on the insert information of the drug even though only a very small percentage of users suffer from these side effects. Apparently they can only do so when quite a number of cases are recorded. In Europe there is such a warning on the insert information of the drug (so they told me). In the USA legal firms are inviting patients to come forward with their complaints.

I feel that patients out there must be warned about the possible side effects of Fosamax so that they can make an informed decision about using the drug or not. Had I known about this side effect I would certainly not used it for so long.

I have always been a very active person, but now will have to change my lifestyle.

I hope that my story could help other persons using Fosamax, Fosavance or the generics from the same fate.

Kind regards

Debbie
