We have 2 Courses available this year... The first one is
1.The Natural Health and Nutrition Course (NHN)
This is our flagship course and it is an academic course, i.e. you study the notes and write a non-compulsory test and an essay question. There are 2 practical assignments and it is ideal for people just wanting to know more about their bodies and natural health, and folk wanting to take complete responsibility for their own wellbeing.
This is a foundational course and ideal to do if you are not sure how far you want to take your natural health studies. Some students do use this information to help others, but you cannot be listed as a Natural Way Lifestyle Consultant until you have completed the NHC (see below)
Duration: 6-12 months to complete, on average.
Why do this course?
The Natural Health & Nutrition course is for people who want to have a solid non commercial foundation in natural health & nutrition
This course does not encourage the use of supplements, drugs or any commercial products; it is not based on what the food industry would like us to consume either.
Rather it focuses on how lifestyle and diet can encourage the body to repair and heal itself.
It is our strong belief that you should not have to be wealthy to be healthy and these principles can be applied to the rich and poor alike.
The NHN course will enable you to take responsibility for your health by giving you a basic understanding of nutrition from carbohydrates to vitamins, minerals, proteins, the immune system and the effect food has on emotions and behaviour.
This course is based on the most comprehensive study of nutrition ever conducted, the China Study. (Headed by Dr. T, Colin Campbell Professor Emeritus of Nutritional Biochemistry at Cornell University) The foundation is scientifically sound with a foundation of independent research and physiology.
Is the course recognized?
This course has been previously approved by both the Technikon Witwatersrand and Tech SA academic boards. The certificate is issued by our Academy of Natural Health
There is however no world wide governing body that recognizes or approves any non university nutrition or lifestyle course. Anyone telling you their course is recognized needs to be asked, ‘by whom?’
Can you consult with this course?
You can do whatever you like with this course, it is up to you. The law in most countries states that you may not diagnose or prescribe unless you are a medical doctor.
This course is not designed to do either. It is designed to help you pinpoint diet and lifestyle errors they may be affecting your health.
You will however only be recognized as an affiliated “Natural Way Consultant" when you have completed the Natural Health Consultants Course which is the practical application of the theory in the NHN course.
This is to make sure The Natural Way consultants are all on the same page and committed to a healthy lifestyle. It is essential that these consultants live the lifestyle as we cannot condone hypocrisy.

2.The Natural Way Lifestyle Consultants Training Course (NHC)
This course is for those people who would like to run a natural health consulting business and covers all aspects of natural lifestyle consulting. This course is about 70% practical and involves working closely with potential clients. Case studies and suggested programs are included. Access to the internet is essential for assignments and on-going research.
On completion, you will be listed as a Natural Health Consultant on our website at www.mary-anns.com and be promoted and referred to by ourselves in response to email and other enquiries. Your name will also be included in any brochures that refer to consultants. You will have direct access to Mary-Ann via email if you need any help. (There is no charge for this).
You must have completed the NHN course (see above) and written the tests and completed the assignments if you wish to do this course.
